Commentary: | The story, Cardigan, covers thirty-two daybook entries. Schoonover numbered the first eleven entries with their own sequence of numbers from one to eleven. These eleven were later renumbered as #27a through #36a to bring them into the comprehensive day book numbering system. The remaining twenty day book entries use the numbers 37, 38 and 40 through 59. Eight of the illustrations (#36a, 46, 48, 50-52, 56, and 57) were not published. | |
