Commentary: | In 2019, Denis Chandler described his father’s admiration and love of illustrated books. Further, he explained that his mother saved her money for two years to buy this work from Frank Schoonover at his studio at 1616 North Rodney Street in Wilmington in June 1960.
In 2019, this painting was featured on PBS program Antiques Roadshow, which was filmed at Winterthur in Wilmington, Delaware. Subsequently, the painting was on display from March – July 2020 in the American Illustration Gallery at the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington, Delaware. |
