Commentary: | According to a note written by Schoonover’s student and illustrator, Walter Stewart, this painting “was bought by the Wilmington Furniture Co. in the 1930’s [and] hung on landing of stairs to 2nd floor.” Its whereabouts thereafter is unknown. (correspondence / In 1990, auctioneer William Bunch in Wilmington, Delaware, reported that this painting was destroyed in a fire on Berkeley Street in 1989.) This illustration was used by the Schoonovers as the image for one of their Christmas cards. |
