caption: The oil painting “Heidi,” by Frank E. Schoonover of a red-haired girl herding goats, is 36 inches high and 28 inches wide. Schoonover’s granddaughter Louise Schoonover Smith says “Number 1338, Heidi” is probably written on the back of the canvas in black paint. She isn’t sure whether the painting was signed.
