Commentary: | The farm depicted in this easel painting shows the boyhood farm of Dr. William H. Kraemer in Wood County near Parkersburg, West Virginia. Schoonover was commissioned to render the sketches and painting as described from Dr. Kraemer’s memory. The doctor can be seen as a boy driving the cows in the background. The farmer and his wife are Kraemer’s parents. | |
