Commentary: | There are two entries in the day book for this painting. The first gives the title. In the second, Schoonover notes that he was “painting up river, easel in boat – rocks where we cook bacon – cold morning.” (day books) The focal point is the sunlit grouping of flowers on the outcropping of rock reminiscent of Indian Rock further downstream. |
