Commentary: There are two entries in the day book for this painting. The first gives the title. In the second, Schoonover notes that he was “painting up river, easel in boat – rocks where we cook bacon – cold morning.” (day books)
The focal point is the sunlit grouping of flowers on the outcropping of rock reminiscent of Indian Rock further downstream.
Provenance: Sold by artist to Mrs. Robert Flint, Wilmington, Delaware (November 1962); descended in family to private collection
