Commentary: | The Rose Gardens is a picturesque spot along the Brandywine River in Wilmington, Delaware. Schoonover often took his students to the River to paint in the fall and spring. If he was in Wilmington in the summer, as is the case with this painting, he went alone and painted various scenes along the river. | |
