Commentary: | “In this drawing, Schoonover inserts a more exotic fisherman than before, an Eskimo, and views him from above in a bird’s-eye perspective. For these reasons, the drawing may date as late as 1903, during or after his trip to Canada, indicative of the mature work of an accomplished artist, rather than the less knowledgeable, earlier attempts at rendering figures in a landscape.” (Drexel University Museum, 55) | |
